The word is very difficult to define in a sophisticated manner. It’s all about the perspective on how we see things. In what kind of society did we grow up, and how have we completed our moral and social education? It was bizarre when a 25-year-old lady was feeding her 8-month-old son during court and she got scolded by the judge saying “Ma’am, you need to cover up”. It was not a fashion TV show where a lady was trying to expose her breast to get the attention of the audience, nor a porn site where people visit to fulfill their sexual arousal.
She was just feeding her son because he was hungry. Patriarchal, obsessed people, who are not able to find the various meanings of the word and impose their definition on everyone, always value their own words. I don’t know why a section of society always gives unwanted advice to people who are literate enough to understand the things.
When a girl is told not go outside by the family, it is ok which can be considered as a advice, but when a post holder who has become the caretaker of the society and has been chosen through a democratic process to abolish the crime and work for the betterment of the society, give advice to the women not to go outside late night. It is the failure of the person who is not capable of solving the problems. Someone’s cannot be the restriction of society. A restriction is not the solution.
It’s not today’s issue; it has been a long time since women have been used to facing immense ostracism by various rules. There were a lot of discriminatory laws designed by men only to rule women and to take undue advantage of them.
Women are not meant to be for domestic chores only. They have their own desire, ambition, as well as their way of life. Women are entitled to their opinion, as well as a view. They need to stand together and raise their voice until they get the right to equality everywhere.
Men are not the lawmaker who makes the dos and don’ts for them. Men ought to encourage women and boost their morale if men are still not ready to change their inadequate perspective towards women. Women should change the man.
